Our Story

In September 2014, the a cappella group the Dartmouth Aires from Dartmouth College contacted a small bilingual school in Beijing, asking if the school would be interested in hosting them in the spring of 2015.

The email found its way to the school’s marketing director at the time, a Thai employee with a passion for music, and as some would say, “the rest is history”.

Under the umbrella of her employer Ivy Education Group, the founder of Kula Co., Ltd. Kanokewan Wuttithamrong (Khun Ja) organized the first “A Night to Remember” Charity Concert and Silent Auction in March 2015. In collaboration with the Dartmouth Aires, the Four Seasons Hotel, Beijing, and the generosity of the school and Beijing communities, she raised over 20,000 USD. The second “A Night to Remember” featuring the Radcliffe Pitches and the Harvard Krokodiloes a cappella groups took place in June 2019, raising over 23,000 USD for worthy causes.

After 20 years of working and living abroad, Khun Ja returned to Bangkok in January 2020 right at the start of the Covid-19 global pandemic. Witnessing how Thailand was suffering from the pandemic’s dire effects, especially underprivileged youths who could no longer afford to go to school, she could not stand idly by.

What began as an idea deep during the pandemic unfolded to become a reality. Khun Ja successfully hosted Bangkok’s first edition of “A Night to Remember” Charity Concert and Silent Auction in June 2022, featuring her longstanding “partners in crime” the Kroks, the Pitches and a new partner the Thai Youth Orchestra. With the incredible support from event advocates, silent auction partners and patrons, the evening raised over 2.5 million baht in support of the Community Children Foundation, helping over 300 students return to school.

And the journey continues. Even if the worst of the pandemic appears to be over for now, there are still countless children who are at risk; countless children who yearn to but are unable to go to school. With our motto of “Where Cause and Community Connect”, Kula is deeply committed to helping those in need through our signature event “A Night to Remember”.

We hope you will consider joining us on June 3rd, 2023 for what promises to be another evening full of passion and purpose.
